Piranha is one of the rescue goats from a couple
years ago, that was almost dead on her feet, and
has made a miraculous comback in the last couple of
years thanks to Dwight and Michelle Osborne at
Cactus*Point. She has come full circle and is back
at her birthplace as an aged doe and after all
she's been through still tests NEGATIVE for CAE.
Piranha still has an absolutely GORGEOUS mammary.
She has had an extremely hard life, and has paid
for it in her growth. (She's around 200 lbs.) She
is still a very wide and level doe with wonderful
dairy character and a mammary that couldn't get any
higher or wider in the rear if we tried!! Her
fore udder is also superb, along with very nice
teat placement and medial. She had a very nasty
case of mastitis at some point in her unfortunate
life, and it caused one side of her mammary to have
too much scar tissue to be milked on that side. She
still fills with milk though, and the effect is one
that is a knockout!!! We dried up the side that is
blocked and she milks right at 6 lbs a day from the
good side. Not bad for an old lady! Piranha will
live the easy life here for the rest of her years
along with her dam, Dusty
Rose, and will be pampered as much as
possible!! AND THEY WERE UNTIL THE VERY END. Rose
was 16 and Pirahna was almost 15 when they each in
their turn passed over the rainbow bridge.
Piranha still has a son in our herd, Rosebud,
so the line lives on.
